Minor/Double Major

For students enrolled in a program who are interested in other programs and wish to take courses from those programs, Dual Major or Minor programs are available. Dual Major and Minor programs allow students to take courses from other programs related to their own field and, upon successful completion of the program, to receive a diploma or certificate. Students enrolled in these programs must complete the courses in the curriculum of their Double Major or Minor program in addition to the courses in their own program. In this regard, in order for students to complete these programs within a reasonable time, agreements are made between programs that have many courses in common in their curricula and are similar in terms of field, and Double Major and Minor programs are opened between these programs. Within this scope, students from different programs at our University are accepted into our program as Double Major and Minor students, and similarly, students studying in our program can also pursue Double Major and Minor studies in different programs at the University. 

In order to complete a Double Major or Minor program, students must first graduate from their major. After graduating from their major, graduates who successfully complete the Double Major program are awarded separate diplomas for each program. In the Minor program, students take courses specified by the relevant program in order to gain knowledge or expertise in a different field in addition to their major education, and receive a certificate instead of a diploma at the end of the program. Second- and third-year students can apply for Double Major and Minor programs. Final-year students and students who have not yet completed their first year cannot apply. While it is not possible to pursue two different Double Major programs at the same time, it is possible to pursue one Double Major and one Minor program simultaneously. An average of 3.00 is required to apply for Double Major programs, and an average of 2.50 is required to apply for Minor programs. In addition, applicants must be in the top 20% of their class in terms of grade point average. The programs available for Double Major and Minor, application dates, and quotas are announced during the application periods, and students can apply online. Applications and evaluations are assessed by the Faculty Board in accordance with the Maltepe University Double Major and Minor Programs Guidelines, which are established in accordance with the general rules determined by the Council of Higher Education.
